Jon & Kate Gosselin House For Sale, Celebritycafe Re-cap Watch Full Episodes on Fancast.com

Hello Gosselin fans! Busy busy time! We have a new president now that seems to be giving us re-newed hope for economic stability and a brighter future. For those like Jon & Kate that have a bit of money, now's a great time for house hunting, and they're practically giving away condos & time-shares (lol). So for those on the sellers end, you gotta come up with a good hook in order to sell yours fast & for a good price. Lucky this family has the hook.

The Gosselins House On The Market

For the record people, they are not selling this house for a ridiculous amount of money. These are what comparable houses are going for with the addition of a little "padding" based on the celebrity quotient of who lived there. So the GWOP haters are having a field day, thinking that they're asking alot when they're not. The house was properly appraised and the value is accurate considering the possible additions (washer/dryer, extensions, a/c etc.)
You can see the house HERE. And again for the record, I feel the reason why the front of the house isn't shown is BECAUSE of the fact they want this house to sell on its own, and not because of its famous uhh front.

Another "All You Wanted To Know" Re-cap

This one is courtesy of Celebritycafe.com. You can read it HERE. They definitely got into alot of what I forgot to talk about!

"What’s one thing that makes it easy and hard to deal with each child? Cara is easygoing, but she holds her emotions then explodes. Mady never holds in her emotions, but has a big heart. Alexis is smart but sneaky. Hannah is a helper, but has an attitude sometimes. Aaden is cute, but wants to be a baby. Collin is caring, but he is stubborn. Leah is nice, but is secretly the mastermind. Joel sometimes whines, but is a good kid overall. Frank, the camera operator, likes Joel because he’s “out there.” Alex, the sound guy, is biased towards Alexis because she learned his name first."

I find it so funny that I got this e-mail today from a reader that mentioned how Serena posted on her open discussion like 10 times. Shes really trying to hustle to get the snark in. Someone there was so desperate they were saying how horrible Jon & Kate are for not knowing if their kids are right or left handed. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? For the record, the recap above told us that 6 are right-handed, and two are still deciding. Whoe's the dummy now?????

Wow, thats so cool. $350k sounds about right. In Cali. you'd pay more for a house like that. Thanks for sharing. I'm so excited for the Gosselins.

So, I tried both websites to watch full episodes and neither worked or had any recent episodes.

Great links! Great info. Thanks again. I really love it here.
Hey, did anyone hear what Kate really said to the adopt or give birth to more kids question. Sounded to me like she said they "didn't know and no" - respectively answering the questions. Meaning didn't know about adopting and no to giving birth. Did anyone else hear it like that. I need to try to go find footage.

MaryMac, that is also how I took Kate's comment about adopting or having another child.

Looking at the old house kind of made me feel sad. I am all for the Gosselins recent move, but the old house has to be filled to the brim with memories for them...and for all of us. I was also a little sad to see Kate's scripture cards still on her bathroom mirror. From the pictures it is clear that there are still some things that need to be cleaned out, some odds and ends etc. I am happy for them and wish them the best in their new home!!

And $350,000 does not seem that high for that area, size of house etc. However, I don't know what other houses are going for in that neighborhood.

MaryMac said...

Thanks Bee. How fun would that be if they did adopt! And interesting. There are so many babies out there that need homes. And Kate would get to raise just "one" at a time. lol.
I really feel like they've done a great job with their 8. Those kids laugh and hug and dance and interact well with each other as well as adults.

And I agree looking at the empty house is a bit sad. I am very glad they have moved to a larger house, but it is bitter sweat to look at those pics. I CAN HARDLY wait til next week!!

A Real Housewife said...

It looks so empty. I do hope they get it sold quickly. But, it is a little bitter sweet.

The commercial that showed the new house, sure did look like they were walking on a tree lined driveway. Also, the french doors along the family room wall, sure looked familiar. I think the pictures of the house we have been seeing, is indeed the house. What do you all think?

Carol B said...

I'm surprised the square footage of the house isn't listed. Jon mentioned it was 3,000 sq. ft. once but it doesn't seem that big to me? In my area that house would go for at least $600,000. They're selling it for the price of a modest condo here. They could have listed it for $50,000 and the trolls would find some loophole to criticize. "Oh, they're giving it away because they're so high and mighty."

I too am sad seeing the house empty. The realtor must be thrilled to have gotten a celebrity listing but with the address shown and directions to the house she must be getting her share of loonies driving by; I feel sorry for the neighbors! And whoever moves in there will get a lot of drive by action for some time, I imagine.

I would kill for that laundry room! And it looks like they're leaving the IKEA cubbies in the basement - absolutely yummy (I crave organizing modules and a finished basement, which I don't have).

I can't wait to see the new house, then I won't feel so sad for the old house. :)

Being from PA, 350k is a good asking price. The freebies probably raised it a bit. I have a question that maybe someone can answer. How many bedrooms were in the house? The listing says 5 but I only count 4. What am I missing?

It's nice that they took out the industrial lighting! And it does look nice for a home that 10 people lived in. Especially when 8 of them are young, destructive children. It is a testament to the neat freak mother and the way she raised the kids NOT to be a 8 man wrecking crew.

Two sets of front loading washer/dryers? NICE selling point. The new house must have all of that, because those two sets barely look used.

BEE said...

Paula,

There were the three kids rooms upstairs, Jon and Kate's room off the kitchen as well as the twins homework room/small playroom that was also off the kitchen. I am assuming that the homework/small playroom is what they are counting as bedroom #5.

I wonder if the configuration of the twins room and the girls room will deter some buyers? The two rooms are connected by a closet. So, in order to get to the twins room you have to walk through the girls room, through the closet and then you are in the twins room.

I can't wait to see next weeks episode either!!

MthrFinPricess said...

what a great post! shame i don't live in PA or can afford 350k haha

Portia said...

Thanks Bee I forgot about the homework/playroom. I agree about the twins room being hard to get too, but it could be an attic room again and not a bedroom, or an extension of the tups bedroom.

Portia said...

Can you imagine what it will be like for the people who do buy the house? People will know how much they paid and all their business will be blogged about. Kind of scary.

mamalndy3 said...

Did anyone find it odd that they left the washer and dryers? Those are really nice I can't see not taking at least one set.

I live in PA and happen to think that 350k is a lot compared to what houses in that area are going for.

The House is located at 2190 Andrew Avenue in Elizabethtown, PA. It is currently listed at $350,000, which is about $50,000 above the market value.

I am familiar with Real Estate laws in the south, but lending laws are across the board, especially with the housing market the way it is today.

1. The mortgage company will not lend more that 90% of the appraisal. That might even be 80% now with all the foreclosures. That means if someone really wants that house and J&K will not come off the price, then the buyers will have to come up with all the extra money.

2. It is common practice to list a home on the high side, this leaves the door open for negotiations and closing costs. So, I think J&K did the right thing to list the house over market value.

3. As for the washer and dryer, refrigerator and NEW stove. That has become common. The fact that there are 2 sets of W/D only makes the selling point better. I bought my front loaders 3 years ago and spent $2700.00. I did not get the pedistals that were an extra $500.00 and at the time they did not offer the middle drawers, between one set of the W/D. The W/D look industrial and stainless steel, which makes them even more pricier. Real estate agents are suggesting these days to leave all the appliances, window treatments, and any large selling point (ie Shelving Unit, downstairs).

Usually, the Real Estate Agent is the one who pulls the comps and suggest the price to the sellers. I can not imagine that any Agent would break the Real Estate Commission Ethics Laws and try to sell a house on Celebrity Status alone.

And for the "lookey loos" that are grabbing the nearest agent to get over there: Kates agent is required be at ALL showings. You also must be pre-approved.

Not that I tried or anything.. ;)

I have been having a battle royal today on one of the CafeMom groups. They have about 3 people on there who are admins in another group and they talk horribly about Kate. I said to them that I though calling someone you don't even know a fu****g b***h is uncalled for. For any reason. I know that CafeMom has become pretty much about haters, but the group I belong to, called the Balanced Debater is mostly fans. It's a fun group. But sometimes we flip back and forth to see what the haters are doing and they are vicious. But see, they are too good to watch the show anymore, no, no, no exploited children watching for me. But they can come on the forums and rip J and K a new one for no reason other than hating them.
I went to see Kate today. A bookstore in a small town south of Houston, where I live, was having her at a Barnes and Noble bookstore. She was very warm and kind, friendly, she was engaging with you when it was your turn, she was patient if she needed to wait to get the camera ready, she looked beautiful, very tiny, perfect complexion and flawless makeup. Her clothes were very pretty. It was a fun evening and I wish I knew of a way to post some of the pictures to show you. If anyone knows, just let me know.

There house is almost 2,000 sq feet, my cousin used to be neighbors with them before they moved. She was their babysitter! They are such a wonderful family!

If anyone gives a mouse's tooshie, I looked at the county recorder of deeds website...and the house is on .33 acres and from the house diagram numbers it's about 3000 SF, 3600 w/ the garage. The house was built in 1995, and J&K paid $280k for it 3 years ago, to give some comparison with its listed price. Don't fret, I am not some superduper noseypants spy-the info is open record! Most counties in PA have this kind of info available online.

Barbara,

Thanks for your post about meeting Kate. I am not sure about posting photos but you could email BabyMama and ask her.

Glad to hear you had a nice encounter with Kate!

The episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 in which the kids saw their new house for the first time was a disappointment. It was a momentous occasion -- and where was Kate? She was, for over four hours, in the kitchen with her head inside a refrigerator whining the whole time about how dirty it was. And why is a girl Maddy's age permitted to kick her sister? These parents are beginning to annoy me.

Carol B said...

Mady's not allowed to kick her sister - the only people who saw that were the filming crew (who do not discipline the kids, they simply film what they see). My 9 year old is not allowed (and in no uncertain terms) to hit or throw things at her older sister. Does she do it anyway? You bet. I'm sure there are kids out there who do not hit their siblings, but there are plenty who do (so there are many annoying parents given that criterion).

As for them annoying you, you're in very, very good company. There are people so annoyed by them they *loathe* them. They have entire websites dedicated to unabashed loathing.

I tried clicking on the link where it showed the old house for sale and it errored out, any suggestions?

Since this is an old post the page that I linked had been moved. I re-updated the link and you can see all the house stats and info when you click the link. I will be trying to find out if it sold already.
