The Miracle On The Hudson

Hello Gosselin fans! I will be updating this post later have no fear! But I must say a few things regarding the miracle airline yesterday. After going through 9/11 I didn't think I would be able to hear anything better that could restore a sense of happiness here in NY. . This shot was taken a short time after a US Airways 1548 plane bound for Charlotte, NC crashed into the Hudson in NYC. It left out of Laguardia airport where I always fly out of. Two geese in a flock flew right into the engines as it was going up. Imagine ascending into the sky and hearing those fateful words "Brace For Impact". I just got sick hearing it.

Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger, III was the pilot who safely crash-landed that plane into our water. He is a true hero and saved all 155 passengers and crew. Another hero? Capt. Brittany Catanzaro. She was departing from Pier 70 driving a ferry that carries commuters between Manhattan and New Jersey. She looked out and saw the plane in the water. Girlfriend steered the ferry toward the sinking plane and her crew got life jackets. FOR REAL! She steered her boat as close to the plane as she could, so that passengers could walk aboard without getting wetter than they already were.

TRUE STORY! I LOVE IT. This of course had coverage similar to 9/11 here. My point is, all the complaining I have been doing about cracked teeth, lost pictures and my crazy mom means nothing when you read stuff like this. I'm still arguing with my mom, but Im trying to appreciate life more after this story. We should all! Maybe this may make Jon & Kate reconsider finding forgiveness in those family members that hurt them? to be continued.......

Nice post! Miracle on the Hudson...praise the lord that those involved were so capable of taking charge in the middle of a crisis. Many lives were saved and we all should remind ourselves of what is truly important in life. People.

This story ended in such a wonderful way when it could have been such a disaster and a heartbreaking one. I watched some survivors share their stories this morning with Matt Lauer and some brought tears to my eyes just the word miracle sums it all up no better. Praise God for allowing some light to shine through in these difficult times and give us a story of hope and love, reminding those of us not involved in the Hudson Miracle to hug our loved ones a little more today. Our prayers are with all the survivors for a speedy recovery and renewed faith in He who makes all things possible :)

Indeed a miracle!

Early on in the broadcasting I heard that there was an infant on board. When I heard this and the chilling words of the pilot "Prepare for impact", I burst into tears. I can not imagine being in that situation, let alone having my child with me.

Praise to God!

When I first heard the words "plane" and "New York" together I felt the blood drain out of my face. But when I heard the whole story it brought me so much happiness - everyone was ok, the pilot is a hero, the ferry boat captains are heroes, the passengers did not panic and trample others and very calmly let the rescuers do their job. It was humanity at its best, bravo.

Bravo to the Captain, flight attendents, crew, passengers, Ferry Boat Captain and all the rescuers. What a beautiful story.

What a nice post. We know how these sort of stories typically end so it was a wonderful surprise to see that everyone made it and to see true heroism in action.

This pilot and crew deserve any and all accolades that come their way. This pilot basically threaded a needle. He landed this plane in the most densely populated part of the country without hitting a building or a bridge. He landed the plane at a perfect angle. Anything else and the plane would have disintegrated and people would have died. The crew did not panic and they did not let the passengers panic. They used their heads and knew not to open the rear or side doors. If they had been opened, the plane would have sunk like a stone. They got everyone out. And then there was the first response rescuers who got there within two minutes of the distress call.

Major kudos all around!
